Why are chemical injection systems becoming so prominent?

By injecting chemicals into the discharge line on your applicator, sprayer or planter, you can rapidly adjust the concentration of your desired chemical or fertilizer depending on your current locations' individual need. This in turn saves your input costs, protects your fields from unnecessarily over applied treatments, as well as keeps a barrier between your fresh water supply tank and the rest of the system, in the unfortunate event of a tank or rig failure.

Also note: The Cobra Injection System can be used as a convenient applicator for hay bale preservative! Look under our Documents and Literature heading for more information!

The System
The Cobra Injection system utilizes a digital over analog design, wherein the operator follows a simple and quick (often 1 time only) 5 step process for configuring their injection rate. The Cobra Injection system is capable of metering and applying 1 chemical rate, for multiple rates, multiple Cobras are needed.

Specs needed to configure your Cobra Injection System:

     1.Target vehicle speed

     2.Nozzle Spacing (in inches)

3.Number of nozzles on your boom, planter or applicator

4.Required ounces of chemical per gallon (specified by the chemical manufacturer)

5.Desired Gallons Per Minute (GPM) or Gallons Per Acre (GPA)

Once this information is gathered, your system can be configured with the correct inline orifice and target Pounds per Square Inch (PSI). This information is available in the Chemical Injection Calculator link below (.xls), if you are unable to access this file or have questions, feel free to contact us and we will gladly calculate your needed rate using the information provided above.

  • Oversized 4" pressure gauge (keep an eye on your system from a distance)

  • Inline filter

  • 2 Gallon Per Minute (max) pump standard

  • Set-and-Forget operation

  • Self contained digital injection pump control

  • Infinitely Variable Rate (IVR) max 2.2gpm open discharge - 0.003gpm at 5PSI through 0.01 gpm at 60PSI

  • Low amp draw, 12 volt DC only

  • Steel housing to protect pump, intermediate plumbing and controls from impact and sun exposure, comes with multiple mounting holes pre-drilled for quick installation

  • Comes with metering orifice (if specified when ordering)

  • Installs to virtually any sprayer

Note: It is important to install this system exactly as the owners manual specifies - to ensure proper operation.

Chemical Tank Specs:
It is important to have an adequate chemical tank size which is dependent on your fresh water tank size. Below is a chart to aid in deciding on what size chemical tank should be used to best fit your applicator.

For simplicity and time saving, it is best to have a chemical tank size with no less than 2x the capacity of your gallons treatable ratio.

IE: 8 ounces of chemical per fresh water gallon, The applicator has a 40 gallon tank. Using the 5 gallon Cobra Chemical Tank, I will have have to fill my fresh water tank a total of 2 times, to empty my chemical tank completely, if - my application rate and speed do not change.

  • Ounces per gallon (Chemical Concentration)
-How many ounces of product is to be applied to 1 gallon per fresh water (reference your chemical documentation)
  • Gallons treatable per filling of chemical tank
-How many gallons of fresh water can be treat or injected with, utilizing the chemical tank size below
  • Chemical tank capacity in gallons
